Valparaiso University men's golf redshirt junior
Ryan Somerville (Aurora, Ontario / Aurora) turned in the top score by a member of the program on Tuesday as four individuals finished out competition at the Golfweek "Put Me in Coach" Invitational, hosted at the par-70, 6438-yard Delaware Country Club in Muncie, Ind.
How It Happened
- Somerville climbed five spots on the leaderboard to reach the top 20 for the tournament with a 54-hole score of 221 (+11). He led the Beacons with a 72 (+2) in Tuesday's third and final round.
- Freshman Charlie Davenport (Clarendon Hills, Ill. / Benet Academy) finished two strokes better than Somerville for the tournament to lead the team with a t-17 placing in a 34-player event. The rookie carded a 76 on Tuesday to finish at 219.
- Michigan State's Julian Menser was the medalist at 202 (-8), winning the tournament by six full strokes.
