Andrea Delgado Joins Valpo Tennis Program

The Valparaiso University tennis program and head coach Bob Modesto have announced the addition of Andrea Delgado (Richmond, Texas / Foster [DBU]), who will join the program as a sophomore transfer for the 2025-26 season.

Delgado began her collegiate career by spending this past season at Dallas Baptist University (DBU), where she garnered second team all-conference honors and was awarded First Team All-Tournament accolades at the Lone Star Conference Tournament. She helped the Lady Patriots win both conference and regional championships, securing a spot at nationals for the first time in program history.

Delgado finished her freshman season with a glowing 23-1 record at No. 6 singles and a 17-5 mark at No. 3 doubles. Prior to arriving at DBU, Delgado was a four-year letter winner at Foster High School, where she was an academic all-district choice and District MVP selection during her prep career.

"When I visited Valpo and met Coach Modesto and the GA Olivia (Czerwonka), I immediately felt a strong connection with the team culture and knew it was a place where I could grow both as a player and as a person," Delgado said. "I chose Valpo because of the welcoming atmosphere, competitive tennis environment and the opportunity to continue growing academically and athletically. I'm incredibly excited for this new chapter and thankful for the opportunity to be a part of the Valpo family. I can't wait to give my best, support my teammates and contribute in any way I can to the team's success this season."

Off the court, she was involved with Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and participated in Bible studies with her DBU teammates. She loves going to concerts, watching movies and spending time with friends.

"We are fired up," Modesto said. "We feel like we are ready to compete and probably the best definition of that is that we as a staff have gone out to recruit grit and work ethic. I feel like we have that in Andrea and everybody else that we're bringing in. We are looking to not only compete in the MVC, but redeem ourselves for last year and fight for the top spot. Andrea and Madi (Rogers), our two transfers, both came with recommendations regarding their work ethic and their grit. That is what we're seeking and we know that makes a difference in a program."
