The Valparaiso University Department of Athletics has announced plans for the return of Grit & Grill presented by Lombardi's Sausage Company, a men's basketball/football crossover event that features a full day of excitement on Saturday, Oct. 11.
 
The action begins with the men's basketball preseason open practice event at 11 a.m. with doors opening at 10:45. Tickets are free for the open practice, as fans have the opportunity to get their first look at the 2025-2026 Beacons, under the direction of third-year head coach Roger Powell Jr.
 
Following the scrimmage and prior to the 1 p.m. football game vs. Dayton, a pregame meet-and-greet tailgate with Valpo men's basketball will take place, featuring free food provided by Lombardi's Sausage Company. The game will kickoff at 1 p.m. with paid admission needed to attend the game.
