Beacons Fall at Illinois Sunday

A perfect Illinois side proved too much for Valpo to handle on Sunday afternoon in Champaign, Ill., as the Beacons fell 6-0 to the Fighting Illini.
 
How It Happened
  • Illinois struck 48 seconds into the match to open the scoring.
  • The Fighting Illini added goals in the 19th minute, the 34th minute and the 42nd minute to go into halftime with a 4-0 lead.
  • Illinois found the back of the net twice in the opening 11 minutes of the second half for the final margin.
  • Saki Tsuchiya (Takasaki, Japan/Kaishi Gakuen [Tyler J.C.]) laid out to her left to save a penalty kick in the 84th minute to keep the Fighting Illini from adding to their lead.
 
Inside the Match
  • Tsuchiya made her Beacon debut on Sunday afternoon, stepping into goal at the start of the second half and making five saves — highlighted by the aforementioned penalty stop.
