Game Recap: Soccer |

Soccer Falls at Belmont Saturday

The Valpo soccer team fell by a 3-0 final in MVC action at Belmont Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened
  • It looked like the match was going to enter halftime scoreless, but the Bruins' Reagan Ross found the back of the net with 55 seconds remaining in the opening half to put Belmont on top.
  • The Bruins doubled their advantage in the 50th minute when Lillie Tabor converted a penalty kick.
  • Ross added a second goal in the 57th minute to complete the scoring.

Inside the Match
  • Belmont held a 19-3 advantage in shots and put nine of its efforts on goal.
  • Salange Bell (Montclair, N.J./Montclair Kimberly Academy) made four saves in net in her start, while Adria Schultz (Toronto, Ont./Michael Power – St. Joseph) played the final 28 minutes and made two saves.
  • Sofia Raco (Mississauga, Ont./Holy Name of Mary College School) was the lone Beacon to play the full 90 minutes, the first time in her career she has done so.
Thoughts From Coach Marovich
"It was a tough day for us to gain any rhythm. We didn't win enough of the 50/50 challenges or second balls to help regain and settle us down."

"The goal before the half was tough, but only down a single goal is something we have come back from in the past. The PK early in the second half just made chasing the game more difficult."

"This is one of those moments that you have to quickly move on from because Sunday is another important Valley game. We have some time this week to recovery and re energize for the weekend."
