David Jansen

David Jansen joined the Valpo coaching staff as a graduate assistant coach in April 2025, following three seasons on staff at Gustavus Adolphus.

Jansen's tenure at Gustavus Adolphus was highlighted by the side's 2022 campaign, during which the Golden Gusties won the MIAC regular season title as part of an undefeated regular season, rose to as high as #5 nationally and advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. Jansen was part of a coaching staff which was named conference Coaching Staff of the Year, United Soccer Coaches North Region Staff of the Year and was a finalist for United Soccer Coaches National Coaching Staff of the Year.

Gustavus Adolphus enjoyed success in each of Jansen's three seasons on staff, advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2023 and 2024 as well. The 2024 side shared the MIAC regular season title and rose to as high as #3 nationally.

Jansen also spent two seasons guiding the Gustavus Adolphus JV side, leading the squad to a 19-2-1 record over those two campaigns. With the first team, his primary coaching responsibilities were focused on back-four organization and positional group training of defensive players, while he also took part in recruiting, scouting, and game-day management.

Before joining the Gustavus Adolphus coaching staff, Jansen played and captained the Gustavus men's soccer team. Jansen closed his collegiate career with a record of 53-12-2, including
two regular-season conference titles, one conference tournament title, and two NCAA tournament appearances in 2018 and 2019.
