Craig Wotta, who owns over three decades of experience in athletics, joined the Valpo Athletics staff as Assistant Athletic Director for Events & Facilities in August 2025.
He spent the last three years as the General Manager of Suburban Ice Macomb in Macomb, Mich. after previously serving as the Conversions Manager at Little Caesars Arena/Olympia Entertainment in Detroit, Mich. from May 2018 to September 2022. Prior to his recent experience managing ice arenas, Wotta spent much of his career in intercollegiate athletics, most recently serving as Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich. from 2013-2018.

Wotta’s extensive resume also includes a lengthy run as the manager of Yost Ice Arena at the University of Michigan from April 1998 to February 2012 after serving as the facility’s assistant manager beginning in March 1997. He managed operations of the historic 6,800-seat home of the University of Michigan hockey team. On Dec. 11, 2010, Wotta played a crucial role in The Big Chill, University of Michigan vs. Michigan State, by serving on the executive committee of the event, which saw Michigan Stadium transformed into an outdoor ice rink.

Wotta graduated from the University of Michigan in May 1991 with a bachelor’s in sport management and communications. His duties at Valpo will include management of the department’s events and facilities in addition to management of the equipment room.
