The Valparaiso University Athletic Department continued its tradition of excellence in the classroom during the 2020 spring semester as student-athletes enjoyed a particularly strong term of academic success.

2020 would have marked the 12th year of the annual ARC Awards ceremony, celebrating the accomplishments of Valpo student-athletes throughout the past season. While the physical ceremony was canceled this year, the award winners that would have been announced that evening were unveiled on social media throughout the month of May. Valpo Continues to Excel as NCAA Releases Latest APR Data

A week after Valparaiso University boasted a conference-most six teams earning NCAA Public Recognition Awards and just days after the department recognized 132 student-athletes with Presidential Academic Honors, the academic success of Valpo student-athletes was in the limelight once again on Tuesday.

132 Valparaiso University student-athletes earned Presidential Academic Honors for their work in the classroom while senior Katherine Germann earned the Laurel Award, among the awards announced as part of a social media presentation Sunday in lieu of the yearly Student-Athlete Presidential Academic Honors Banquet.


Conference-Most Six Valpo Teams Earn NCAA Public Recognition Awards

Six Valparaiso University athletic programs have earned NCAA Public Recognition Awards for outstanding academic performance, as announced by the NCAA this week. Valpo student-athletes emerged as champions in the classroom as the department boasted the most NCAA Public Recognition Awards in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Valparaiso University fully supports decisions made by the Missouri Valley Conference, the Summit League and the NCAA in cancelling all remaining MVC and Summit League winter and spring contests and NCAA championship events.


MVC Announces Cancellation of Women's Basketball Tournament / Suspension of Spring Sports Contests

The Missouri Valley Conference announced today that it has canceled the MVC Women's Basketball Tournament scheduled to begin today at TaxSlayer Center in Moline, Ill. In addition, the MVC has announced that all Conference spring sports contests have been suspended through March 30, effective immediately.

Nominations Being Accepted For Valpo Athletics Hall of Fame

Nominations are open through Friday, October 11 to be included in the pool of candidates for the Valparaiso University Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2020. Former student-athletes whose last season of competition was 2013-14 or earlier are eligible to be nominated.
