Bowling Continues MOTIV Ladyjack Classic Saturday
Jen Patz broke 200 twice on Saturday, including a 213 in a win over Newman.

The Valpo bowling team continued action from the MOTIV Ladyjack Classic in Kenosha, Wis. on Saturday, picking up a pair of wins. Freshman Alexis Wooley (Fort White, Fla./Fort White) highlighted the Beacons’ performance as she topped 200 in each of the four matches she started.

How It Happened

  • Valpo nearly took down a top-10 opponent to open the day’s action, contested in the traditional team format, as the Beacons were narrowly edged by #9 Maryville, 952-946. Freshman Maia Struble (Anchorage, Alaska/Dimond) led the way with a 219, while freshman Payton Rowley (Stewartville, Minn./Stewartville) rolled a 212 and sophomore Jen Patz (Naples, Fla./Naples) made it a trio of 200-plus efforts with a 204.
  • The Beacons did come out victorious in the second match slot, taking down Aurora by an 899-853 final, led by a 213 game from Wooley.
  • Wooley matched Struble for the day’s high individual game in the third match slot, posting a 219, but #7 Jacksonville State claimed a 1073-930 win. The Beacons fell to #1 Vanderbilt in their next match, 993-900, despite Wooley rolling a 213.
  • The day ended on a winning note, as Valpo emerged with a 930-914 win over #13 Newman. Patz paced Valpo in the win with a 213, while Wooley closed out her day with a 205.
  • Valpo ended the day with a total pinfall of 9,276 through two days of action, good for 10th place among the 16 competing teams.

Next Up

Valpo (21-14) closes out the fall semester on Sunday with the final day of competition from Kenosha, competing in a trio of best-of-seven baker matches in bracket play. Action is slated to begin at 8:30 a.m.
