The #19 Valpo bowling team posted a winning record for the second straight day, as five individuals combined for 11 games of 200 or better as the Beacons continued action at the Penguin Classic, hosted by Youngstown State in Struthers, Ohio.

How It Happened
- Valpo opened the day, contested in the traditional team format, with a 975-783 victory over Morgan State. Sophomore Payton Rowley (Stewartville, Minn./Stewartville) led the way with a 214 game, while senior Lilu Smith (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln) rolled a 205 in the win.
- The Beacons made it back-to-back victories with a 982-918 win over Wright State in the day's second match slot. Rowley registered Valpo's high game of the day with a 238 and sophomore Alexis Wooley (Fort White, Fla./Fort White) posted a 201 as well in taking down the Raiders.
- Valpo dropped a narrow 962-949 decision to #25 Niagara in the third match slot. Rowley paced Valpo for the third straight match with a 212, while freshman Jordyn Severson (Portage, Ind./Portage) recorded a 198 in the first traditional match of her collegiate career.
- The Beacons had their best team effort of the day in match slot four as they rolled to a 1004-909 win over #RV Lewis. A quartet of bowlers surpassed 200 in the win, led by a 214 from sophomore Maia Struble (Anchorage, Alaska/Dimond). Junior Jen Patz (Naples, Fla./Naples) posted a 210, Smith a 206 and Wooley a 205 in the victory as well.
- Valpo fell 939-924 to #RV Central Missouri in its final match of the day, despite a 201 game from Smith and a 200 game from Rowley.
- Rowley posted Valpo's top individual average on Saturday, averaging a 206.6 over the day's five matches, while Smith averaged a 197.4.
- The Beacons ended the day with a total pinfall of 9,578 pins through the first two days of competition, good for sixth place in the 16-team field.

Valpo (6-4) opens bracket play on Sunday morning at 7:25 a.m. CT against fifth-seeded #2 Arkansas State. There will be three rounds of best-of-seven baker matches, with the Beacons able to finish as high as third place in the final standings.
