The #19 Valpo bowling team concluded hosting the Valpo Bowling Classic at Stardust Bowl III in Dyer on Sunday, finishing the tournament in third place.

How It Happened
- The third seed after the first two days of action, Valpo opened the best-of-seven baker bracket against Aurora and started off hot, rolling consecutive games of 202, 198 and 223 to take a 3-0 lead in the match.
- A tie in game four extended the match, and Aurora edged the Beacons by one in game five to move it to a sixth game. Valpo shut the door there, however, posting a 199 to close out a 4-1-1 match win.
- The victory moved Valpo into a matchup with #16 Maryland Eastern Shore, with the winner advancing to the championship match. The Beacons got things going with a 194 to take the opening game, but the Hawks won each of the next four to claim the 4-1 win.
- Valpo closed the tournament in the third-place match against Carroll and needed the minimum four games to earn a 4-0 sweep. The match included a 223 from the Beacons in game three, while game four came down to the final couple balls before Valpo recorded a three-pin win.
