Laetitia Raoult (Guingamp, France / Florida International) bettered her personal record in the 5K, cracking the program's all-time top 10 and leading the way for the Valparaiso University women's cross country team on Friday as the Beacons competed in the 5K gold race as part of Notre Dame's Joe Piane Invitational at Burke Golf Course in Notre Dame, Ind.
How It Happened
- Raoult, who already ranks third in program history in the 6K, is now part of the program's all-time top 10 in the 5K as well. She crossed the finish in 18:14.1, narrowly outside the top 50 in a competitive, 182-runner field. This beat her previous 5K best from the Winrow Valparaiso Open by just over six seconds. Her time ranks ninth in program history.
- Freshman Kensington Black (Franklin, Ohio / Franklin Senior) finished second on the team while competing in her first collegiate 5K, stopping the clock in 18:43.7.
- Sophomore Vivian Rahmel (Springfield, Ill. / Sacred Heart-Griffin) outdid her previous season best by posting a time of 19:34.4.
- In fact, every Valpo runner improved upon her time from the Winrow Valparaiso Open. Sophomore Amelia Tisdale (Franklin, Ind. / Franklin Community) had a season-best of 21:00.1 on Friday, while sophomore Eva Heimsoth (Ottawa, Ill. / Ottawa Township) bettered her time as well at 22:46.3.
