Tim Mai (St. Johns, Fla./Creekside) broke the program record in the 100 fly on Friday, one of many swims among the best in program history as the Valpo men's and women's swimming teams competed on the second day of action at the Magnus Cup in Cleveland.

How It Happened – Men
- Mai improved upon his PR by over a half-second in the 100 fly and outpaced Anthony Martin's (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett) previous program record by .16 with his prelim swim of 50.08 Friday. The junior followed by nearly matching that effort in the evening final, coming home in 16th place with a time of 50.15.
- Mai was also part of the 200 medley relay which opened the evening session by posting the fourth-fastest time in program history, touching the wall in 1:33.29. An opening 50 back leg of 23.58 from junior Jackson Oostman (Aurora, Ill./Marmion Academy) improved upon his second-best time in program history in that event and was just .06 off the program record, while junior Luke Snider (Germantown, Tenn./Memphis University School) and Martin were also part of that relay.
- For the second straight day, Oostman posted Valpo's best individual finish. The junior qualified sixth for the evening final in the 400 IM and finished in the same position in the final with a time of 4:01.64, improving his second-best time in program history in the event by .02 of a second.
- Senior Andrew Berzai (South Bend, Ind./Mishawaka Marian) also had a strong 400 IM, swimming the final in 4:04.16, good for 12th place. Junior Ricky Helmboldt (Tucson, Ariz./Arizona Connections Academy) and freshman Braden McCormick (Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge) also qualified for the finals of the 400 IM.
- Senior Brendan Stangeland (West Fargo, N.D./Sheyenne) qualified for the finals in the 100 breast with a prelim time of 57.60, moving up to fifth in program history in the event. Sophomore Ian Muffett (Zillah, Wash./Zillah) joined with a strong swim of his own in the same prelims, posting a time of 58.18 — eighth-fastest in program history.
- In the 200 free, freshman Will Schenk (Tulsa, Okla./Holland Hall) posted the eighth-fastest time in program history with a 1:43.93 in the prelims, and then improved upon that in the finals with a time of 1:43.63. Freshman Tristan Haver (League City, Texas/Lutheran South Academy) and sophomore Nate Bolinger (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield) also qualified for the finals in the event as well.
- Haver paced the Valpo contingent in the 100 back prelims with a time of 55.41.
- Swimming as part of Valpo's second relay squad in the 200 medley relay, junior Jeremy Suarez (Romeoville, Ill./Plainfield East) recorded a 50 back time of 24.98 to move into ninth all-time at Valpo in the event.
- The men sit in ninth place with one day of competition remaining.

How It Happened – Women
- Valpo's 200 medley relay posted the seventh-fastest time in program history in the event, as the quartet of sophomore Sophie Schoch (Medina, Ohio/Medina), senior Sara Strauss (Spring Lake, Mich./Spring Lake), senior Courtney Ledbetter (Wentzville, Mo./Timberland [Notre Dame College]) and sophomore Faith Bargwell (Grand Rapids, Mich./Rockford) came home in 1:48.88.
- Swimming on the Beacons' second relay team in the same event, sophomore Bri Keese (Brighton, Colo./Brighton) covered her 50 back opening leg in 28.22, improving upon her ninth-best time in program history in that event.
- Two Valpo swimmers qualified for event finals in Friday's prelim swims, both with times which impacted the program's all-time charts. Strauss posted a time of 1:06.61 in the 100 breast, moving up to sixth in program history in the event.
- Meanwhile, Schoch swam a prelim time of 59.42 in the 100 back to improve upon her ninth-fastest time in program history.
- Freshman Ally Unruh (Peoria, Ill./Dunlap) moved into 10th in program history in the 400 IM with her prelim time of 4:48.29, while sophomore Olivia Tressler (Las Vegas, Nev./Desert Oasis) paced the Valpo contingent in that event with a time of 4:47.74.
- Sophomore Kailyn Benoit (Sussex, Wis./Hamilton) led the Beacons in the prelims of the 100 fly with a time of 59.72, while Ledbetter posted Valpo's top prelim time in the 200 free, touching the wall in 1:58.68.
- The women sit in 13th place with one day of competition remaining.
