One of the top single-match scores in program history highlighted the opening day of the Northeast Classic in New Castle, Del. Friday for the Valpo bowling team, as the Beacons posted a 3-2 record in the first day of competition.

- Valpo opened Friday's action, contested in the five-game baker format, with a 1081-905 loss to #4 Youngstown State.
- The Beacons bounced back in a big way in the second match slot, rolling three games of 216 or better — including a 269 in the second game — as they earned a 1088-1020 victory over Bryant.
- The 1088 match score is the fourth-highest in program history for a five-game baker match and is the program's highest five-game baker score since October 2017.
- Valpo made it back-to-back wins as it overcame a three-pin deficit entering the final game with a 216 finale for a 921-901 victory over #15 Tulane.
- The Beacons fell to #5 Arkansas State in the fourth match slot, 1004-899.
- Valpo closed out the day on a winning note, handily defeating Holy Family, 932-722.
- With a total pinfall of 4,745 for the day's five matches, the Beacons ended the day in 19th place in the 38-team field.
