In the midst of a busy stretch of competition, the #25 Valpo bowling team opened the Flyer Classic in Lockport, Ill. on Friday.

How It Happened
- Valpo opened Friday's action, contested in the five-game baker format, against #7 Wichita State, falling 1016-874.
- The Beacons dropped a 1046-872 decision to #8 Sam Houston State in the second match slot.
- Valpo got on the board in its next match as it took down tournament host Lewis, 947-885.
- Despite breaking 200 in four of their five games in the fourth match of the day, the Beacons fell to #5 Youngstown State, 1147-1032.
- Valpo closed the day on a winning note, defeating #14 UW-Whitewater, 1042-1012. The match was tied heading into the final game, where the Beacons posted a 218 to pull out the victory.
- Valpo finished the day 14th in the team standings in the 22-team field with a total pinfall of 4,767.
