The #25 Valpo bowling team brought the Flyer Classic in Lockport, Ill. to a close on Sunday, finishing in 14^th place after a trio of best-of-seven baker matches.
 
How It Happened

• Valpo opened the day's bracket play against #14 UW-Whitewater, where the Beacons claimed the first two games before UWW took the next three. A 227 for Valpo in game six extended the match to a decisive seventh game, but Whitewater took the clincher as the Beacons fell, 4-3.
• The loss dropped Valpo into a match with #RV Marian. The Beacons spotted their opponent a two-game advantage before stringing together games of 213, 223 and 225 to go up 3-2. Marian won game six to force the seventh game, but there, Valpo edged out the victory by two pins for the 4-3 win.
• Valpo's final tournament matchup came against #20 Tulane. After the Green Wave won the opener, the Beacons posted a 200 in game two to even the match at one game apiece. Valpo followed with a 204 in game three, but that wasn't enough to claim that game, and Tulane went on to a 4-1 win.
