Valpo softball sophomore Kayden Krug (Milford, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) earned recognition for her performance both on the field and in the classroom Thursday, as she was named to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Second Team.
 
On the field, Krug hit .287 this season with 17 runs scored and 18 RBIs, posting 10 multi-hit games and driving in multiple runs on six occasions. She ranked second on the team in batting average and runs scored, and was third on the squad in RBIs. Krug concluded the campaign by representing the Beacons on the MVC All-Tournament Team.
 
In the classroom, Krug owns a 3.90 cumulative GPA as an elementary education major. She earned a spot on the MVC Honor Roll last year and received Valpo Presidential Academic Honors this year.
