Valpo Athletics, UChicago Medicine to Hold Ribbon Cutting at Will Park

UChicago Medicine and the Valparaiso University Department of Athletics have announced plans for a ribbon-cutting celebration, marking the completion of the Community Court Rehabilitation Project at Will Park in Valparaiso.

The event will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 23 from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. with representatives from UChicago Medicine, Valpo Parks, Valpo Athletics and the Valpo men's and women's basketball programs all in attendance. Guests will also be treated to a sweet surprise as the Valpo Velvet Ice Cream Truck will be on-site, scooping up its locally famous treats for those in attendance.

In collaboration with Valpo Athletics, UChicago Medicine selected one basketball court within a Northwest Indiana park to receive a complete rehabilitation. The partnership reflects UChicago Medicine's commitment to investing in community health and wellness initiatives throughout the region. By supporting projects that promote active lifestyles and safe spaces for recreation, UChicago Medicine continues to extend its mission of advancing health equity, building stronger neighborhoods and empowering families to thrive.

"This court rehab project not only enhances the look of Will Park, but also creates opportunities for youth development, healthy lifestyles and stronger neighborhood connections," Van Wagner General Manager for Valpo Athletics Sponsorships Tuesday Monsion said. "UChicago Medicine and Valpo Athletics make a great team, and we would also like to thank the other community partners who helped bring this project to fruition: BSN (specifically Erik Weiler), EverLine Coatings and Valpo Parks. Thank you all again for helping provide a safe, welcoming space for our community to gather, play and stay active."
