The Valparaiso University tennis team swept this week's Missouri Valley Conference honors, as senior
Moira Silva (Houston, Texas / Westside) was named the league's Singles Player of the Week, while Silva and sophomore
Brynn Steven (Wichita, Kan. / Bishop Carroll) teamed up to garner the league's Doubles Team of the Week distinction.

Silva returned to the lineup after missing the first match of the season due to an injury, and didn't miss a beat in the team's lone match this week on Saturday vs. Northern Illinois. She prevailed in her No. 1 Singles match, dominating both sets and dropping only four total games in a 6-2, 6-2 victory over NIU's Irmak Budak at No. 1 Singles. The win came over Budak, who finished last season with an overall singles record of 34-15 and was twice named MAC Singles Player of the Week. Silva recorded her 55th career singles win, seventh in program history, and improved to 7-2 in singles play this season.

At No. 2 Doubles, Silva and Steven picked up a 6-4 win over the Northern Illinois combo of Isabella Righi and Lucia Yecora on Saturday. The Beacons rode a key break early in the match to go up 3-2 that put them on the path to victory. Silva secured her 48th career doubles win, moving her into sole possession of seventh in program history, snapping a tie with Kate Evangelist (2003-2007).

This week's honors marked Silva's ninth and 10
th career MVC weekly awards, while Steven garnered a weekly award for the first time in her collegiate tenure.
