After knocking off three-time defending Pioneer Football League champion Drake 21-13 on Saturday afternoon at Brown Field, the Valparaiso University football team was named the FCS National Team of the Week by Stats Perform on Monday.

The Beacons snapped Drake's 15-game road Pioneer Football League winning streak, handing the Bulldogs just their third loss in their last 30 PFL contests overall. Valpo beat Drake at Brown Field for the first time since 2003 after losing the previous two matchups by a combined score of 68-3 including a 41-0 loss last season in Des Moines.

Mark Johnson and Nic Lendino had two interceptions apiece, while Daniel White hauled in a pair of touchdown catches for the Beacons, who have already surpassed last year's overall and conference win totals and hold a winning record in league play for the first time since 2022.

This marks the first time since Oct. 30, 2017 that Valpo was named the Stats Perform FCS National Team of the Week.
