Senior Katie Koryczan (Crown Point, Ind. / Crown Point) represented the Valparaiso University women's track & field team at this weekend's Gibson Invitational, hosted by Indiana State in Terre Haute, Ind. She posted a personal-best heptathlon point total of 3957, outdoing her previous best of 3868 that already ranked third in program history.
 
Her heptathlon performance this weekend was Valpo's best since 2004.
 
The Beacons will be back in action next weekend in Louisville as the Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Invitational gets underway on Friday, April 24.
