Nine members of the Valparaiso University track & field program were recognized as part of the 2026 Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Team, which was released by the league office on Thursday.
 
Senior Brian Sponaugle (Milton, De. / Cape Henlopen) was named to the team on the men's side, while the following members of the women's team all earned the honor – senior Amelia Tandy (New Albany, Ind. / New Albany), senior Chante Dixon (Benoni, South Africa / Kempton Park [UTSA]), junior Eva Heimsoth (Ottawa, Ill. / Ottawa Township), senior Katie Koryczan (Crown Point, Ind. / Crown Point [Purdue Northwest]), sophomore Kensington Black (Franklin, Ohio / Franklin Senior), junior Lauren Guiley (West Alexandra, Ohio / Eaton [Saint Louis]), senior Rhena Kiger (Crown Point, Ind. / Crown Point) and sophomore Sara Kachurik (Wadsworth, Ill. / Warren Township).
 
To earn MVC Scholar-Athlete Team honors, a student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50, be at least a sophomore in academic and athletic standing and have competed in six regular-season meets or finished in the top eight at a conference championship in an individual event.
