Dylan Moles to Join Valpo Men’s Basketball Program

The momentum surrounding the Valparaiso University men's basketball program has continued to grow, as head coach Roger Powell Jr. has announced that 6-foot-3 guard Dylan Moles (Greenfield, Ind. / Greenfield Central [Marian]) will join the Beacons for his fourth season of college eligibility in 2026-2027.

Moles, who spent the last three seasons at NAIA Marian University in Indianapolis, played in 77 games and made 52 starts while averaging 10.4 points per game over three seasons with the Knights. In his collegiate career, he is shooting .480 from the field, .372 from 3 and .908 from the free-throw line.

"When I went on my visit, I went through the facility and got to meet a lot of the guys and learn about the amenities and the strength and conditioning program," Moles said. "I love the coaching staff. It's an amazing conference. Getting the chance to play Division-I is something that I've always wanted since I was young. I'm ready to take advantage of the opportunity."

Moles' best season at Marian was as a sophomore in 2024-25, when he averaged 15.1 points per game while shooting .519 from the floor, .439 from 3 and .982 from the free-throw line (55-of-56). He led the team in scoring and earned All-Crossroads League Honorable Mention.

"Dylan is very similar to Brody Whitaker and comes from the same type of program," Powell said. "He is a great kid. He's versatile with an ability to shoot and make plays. He has a lot of excitement about coming to Valpo, which is something that really matters to us. He's going to have a good role for us this season, adding depth to the back court."

Moles was originally recruited to Marian by current Valpo assistant coach Jesse McClung, who served as the associate head coach at Marian from 2017-2023 before becoming the head coach at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods prior to Moles' freshman year in 2023-24. As a freshman, Moles was teammates with Brody Whitaker, who spent his final collegiate campaign at Valpo in 2025-26.

"I love Brody; I still talk to him to this day," Moles said. "He was one of the first people I met at Marian and he was one of the older guys who brought me in and helped me out. I learned a lot from him my freshman year; he was an all-conference player here. Guarding him every day in practice made me a lot better as a player."

The owner of 41 career double-figure scoring outputs, Moles scored a career-high 31 points on Dec. 2, 2024 at Judson. He totaled 800 points, 179 rebounds, 99 assists and 81 made 3s in his three seasons at Marian.

At Greenfield Central High School, Moles scored 1,460 career points and was a three-time all-conference honoree. The 2023 Hancock County Player of the Year led his team to a 21-2 record as a senior by averaging 20.5 points and 5.2 assists per game. He set a school record for career made 3s with 194 and was selected to the IBCA Top-60 Workout. Greenfield Central had not experienced a winning season in over 15 years prior to his arrival before enjoying four straight winning seasons with Moles on the team.

"Valpo fans are getting someone who wants to win," Moles said. "That's the most important thing to me. They're getting someone who can shoot, a three-level scorer who can get to the basket, finish and also make plays for teammates and guard at a high level."

Off the court, Moles enjoys golfing and playing poker. He is studying finance with hopes of becoming a financial advisor.

"We want to build on the year that they had last year," Moles said. "I want to build on what guys like Brody left behind by coming in for one year as a leader. I'm excited to get to play with guys who were on the team last year who contributed and are coming back, that will be super exciting."
