Valparaiso University Director of Athletics and Campus Recreation
Laurel Hosmer announced today that bowling head coach
John Martin has resigned his position to pursue a new opportunity.
Â
"We'd like to thank Coach Martin for his work leading our bowling program the last two years," Hosmer said. "His teams contained model student-athletes who competed at a high level on the lanes and raised the bar for Valpo Bowling. We wish Coach Martin the best in his future endeavors."
Â
Martin led Valpo to a 93-81 record in his two seasons at the helm of the program. The Beacons were consistently nationally ranked in the NTCA top-25 poll in his two years, most recently closing the 2025-26 regular season at #21 nationally.
Â
In his two seasons as head coach, the Beacons had two of their three highest single-season scoring averages in program history. This past season, Valpo claimed tournament titles at McKendree's Bearcat Invitational and Augustana's Viking Classic, one of just two teams in program history to win multiple tournaments in the same season.
Â
Valpo Athletics will immediately begin a national search for the bowling program's next head coach.
