Valpo Athletics Announces Results from Successful Valpo Day 2026

The Valparaiso University Department of Athletics has announced results from a successful Valpo Day, which took place on Wednesday, April 8.

The department raised over $285,000 in donations and pledges to support Valpo student-athletes, a 26 percent increase from the previous year. This marked the third consecutive Valpo Day that has seen an increase in dollars raised for athletics. Well over 600 individuals and households gave to Valpo Athletics on the day.

Valpo programs competed to have the highest number of donors on the day, with the top three teams earning bonus funding for their program. Women's swimming won the competition, earning a $6,000 bonus thanks to 124 unique donors on the day. Football finished second with 100 unique donors, earning a $3,000 bonus, while men's swimming finished third with 98, securing a $1,000 bonus.

Programs also competed in a BSN Nike Power Hour, with women's swimming earning a $1,500 Nike credit by having the most donors from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Valpo Day.

"The pride and passion that our fans, alumni, family, friends and community – both near and far – have for our great institution was on full display during this year's Valpo Day," Director of Athletics and Campus Recreation Laurel Hosmer said. "To see everyone come together and raise over a quarter-million dollars in support of our student-athletes is truly inspiring. These funds will have an immediate impact on the young men and women who are striving to be champions in competition and the classroom. Our collective mission at Valparaiso University is to build lives for good. Thanks to this outpouring of support, our staff and coaches are now better resourced to fulfill that mission and we are sincerely grateful for that."
