The Valparaiso University Department of Athletics has announced multiple athletics challenges for Valpo Day 2026, the University's annual Day of Giving, which is set for Wednesday, April 8.
Â
The program with the most individual donors on Valpo Day will earn $6,000. The team with the second-most donors will garner $3,000 and third place will receive $1,000.
Â
In addition, the team with the most individual donors from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. will earn $1,500 in Nike Gear.
Â
Individuals have stepped up to provide sport-specific matching gifts for several Valpo teams, incentivizing supporters to give on Valpo Day to activate the matching gifts. All gifts to the Men's Basketball Excellence Fund, up to $100,000, will be matched by Roger and Tara Powell. An anonymous supporter has made a matching gift challenge possible for the Women's Basketball Excellence Fund, up to $20,000.
Â
All gifts to the Baseball Fund will be matched, up to $5,000, and all gifts to the softball fund will be matched, up to $3,000. In addition, men's golf has received a matching gift for all Valpo Day gifts to the program, up to $5,000.
Â
"Your support during this year's Valpo Day is as important as ever for Valpo Athletics," Director of Athletics and Campus Recreation
Laurel Hosmer said. "As the landscape of college athletics continues to evolve, philanthropy plays a critical role in continuing to provide our student-athletes the resources they need to compete at the highest level and be champions in competition, classroom and the community. Valpo Day is more than a fundraiser, it's a celebration of our great University. It's a day when our entire community comes together to show our student-athletes that we believe in them by helping them reach the goals that they're working so hard to achieve."
