Valpo softball senior Grace Hollopeter (Lake Village, Ind./North Newton [Purdue Fort Wayne]) has repeated as Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week after closing her collegiate career with another stellar weekend at the plate.
 
After tallying an RBI on a sacrifice fly and reaching base on a hit by pitch in mid-week action at Illinois, Hollopeter stood out offensively yet again in the Beacons' weekend sweep of Evansville, reaching base in nine of her 12 plate appearances in the series. She started by going 2-for-2 with two walks, three runs scored and an RBI in the series opener.
 
Hollopeter continued swinging a hot bat in the middle game of the series, going 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, two RBIs and a run scored. She closed her collegiate career by going 2-for-4 with an RBI in the finale, her sixth consecutive multi-hit game in MVC play. Hollopeter's first-inning RBIs gave Valpo the lead for good in each of the final two games of the series.
 
For the week, Hollopeter hit at a .545 clip, going 6-for-11 at the plate. She reached four additional times with three walks and a hit batter, while tallying four runs scored and five RBIs.
 
Hollopeter earned the Newcomer of the Week honor last week as well for her performance against Bradley, giving her back-to-back honors to close out the season. She is the first Valpo softball player to earn a league weekly award in consecutive weeks since Jordan Rutkowski was named Horizon League Batter of the Week on February 28 and March 6 of 2012.
