The Valpo volleyball program earned recognition Thursday for its continued excellent work in the classroom, as the Beacons received the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2025-26 academic year.
 
Valpo has earned the AVCA Team Academic Award in each of the last 14 seasons. Going back further, the program has obtained the accolade in 21 of the last 23 seasons — a span in which Valpo has posted a .665 winning percentage on the court.
 
The team academic award is given to college and high school teams which display excellence in the classroom by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade point average on a 4.0 scale. The nominating head coaches must be AVCA members. Valpo was one of nine programs in the Missouri Valley Conference for the 2025-26 academic year to be honored.
