Valparaiso University volleyball junior Ava Helming (Johnston, Iowa / Johnston) has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week for her performance at this past weekend's CSU/Akron Invite in Ohio.
 
Helming led the MVC in kills/set (4.62) for the week and had a career-high 28 kills in the win over Cleveland State. She tied for the most kills by a Valpo player in the 25-point era and tied for the sixth-most in a match by a Valpo player across all eras.
 
Over the three matches this week, Helming accrued 60 kills and a .261 hitting percentage to go along with two aces, 22 digs, six blocks and 5.04 points per set.
 
Helming earned the MVC Player of the Week honor for the third time in her career, and this marked her fifth total weekly accolade from the league office.
