Valparaiso University women's basketball plans for 2026-2027 are finalized as the Missouri Valley Conference released the league slate on Friday.
The Beacons will tip off the conference portion of the season with two games in the Land of Lincoln prior to the Christmas holiday. The league lid-lifter will be in a challenging environment at Illinois State on Sunday, Dec. 20, facing a Redbirds team that boasted 17-1 home mark a year ago and made a run to the WNIT title game. Valpo will close out the pre-Christmas portion on Tuesday, Dec. 22 at UIC.
The Brown & Gold will take the Athletics-Recreation Center floor for the first time during the Valley docket on Tuesday, Dec. 29 by hosting instate foe Indiana State before ringing in the New Year in Peoria, Ill. with a New Year's Day date with Bradley. The team will spend significant time on the road early in the league season, as six of the first eight conference contests are away from home.
Eight of the final 12 MVC games will be at home, culminating with a home date against Southern Illinois on Saturday, Feb. 27 that is part of a men's-women's doubleheader. The Beacons will play a full double round robin against the other 10 MVC squads to comprise a 20-game Valley journey.
For the first time, the MVC Women's Basketball Tournament will be part of Arch Madness in St. Louis, which is slated to take place from March 3-7 with the champion earning an automatic NCAA Tournament berth.
