David Busch joined the Valpo football staff prior to the 2025 season, handling quality control for the defensive line. He is entering his second season in 2026.
The position group that Busch assisted did yeoman’s work in 2025, as defensive lineman Isaiah Fowler earned All-PFL Honorable Mention, while De’Andre Wilborn achieved Academic All-PFL status and was a semifinalist for the Campbell Trophy. Gabriel Batres was named PFL Defensive Player of the Week after his three sacks vs. Virginia Lynchburg – which at season’s end still ranked tied for the ninth most in a single game nationally in FCS during the 2025 campaign. Valpo totaled 18 tackles for loss against the Dragons, tied for the most nationally in FCS in 2025, including eight sacks (t-fifth nationally). For the season, the team’s 70 TFL tied for fifth in program history.
Busch was a five-year starter on the Marietta offensive line from 2020 to 2024. He played in all 45 games and made 41 starts on his way to becoming a four-time all-conference honoree. He was tabbed a first team Division-III All-Region choice and a Division-III All-American.
Busch has gained wide-ranging experience in the athletics industry including serving as an usher for the Cleveland Guardians, job shadowing at the University of Michigan athletics events, interning for the Great Cleveland Sports Commission and volunteering at the Boca Raton Bowl. Busch graduated from Marietta in December 2024 with a bachelor's degree in sport management and a minor in coaching.
