Prep: Four-year varsity letter winner… First Team All-Region and All-State… Two-time Preseason All-State… Helped his team to a 9-4 record and final four appearance as a senior… Also competed in four years of high school basketball and three years of track & field… Team captain on the gridiron in 2020 while serving as an offensive line captain in both 2019 and 2020…

Personal: Son of Kim and Jeremy Merklinger… Has one brother, Jake… Away from the field, enjoys fish tanks, playing ping pong and going to aquariums… Earned honor roll all four years of high school and received a Geometry Award and an English Award.
