2025-26 MVC All-Freshman Team (Freshman of the Year Runner-up)
2025-26: Averaged 12.5 points per game and 6.8 rebounds per game while playing in all 33 contests and making 31 starts… Averaged 13.0 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per game in 20 Missouri Valley Conference contests, all starts… Became the first Valpo freshman to earn all-conference honors since Lubos Barton in 1999 as Pettigrew was tabbed to the All-Missouri Valley Conference Third Team… Also a member of the MVC All-Freshman Team and finished as the runner-up for the league’s Freshman of the Year Award… Named the MVC Freshman of the Week on four occasions including each of the final three weeks of the regular season, winning the award on Jan. 5, Feb. 16, Feb. 23 and March 2… Over the final month of the season (Feb. 7 to March 6), averaged 17.4 points and 8.6 rebounds per game… In league-only games, ranked 16th in the MVC in scoring average, third in rebounding average, eighth in free-throw percentage (.789), tied for ninth in steals per game (1.15) and second in offensive rebounds per game (2.4)… His 139 made free throws on the season tied for the 10th most in program history and represented the most by a Valpo player since Alec Peters made 172 in 2016-17… In overall stats, ranked 15th in the league in scoring average, third in rebounding average, 14th in free-throw percentage (.743) and second in offensive rebounds per game (2.42)… Finished the season with 223 rebounds, the most by a freshman in program history and the 12th-most by a freshman in Missouri Valley Conference history. His 223 rebounds were the second-most by any Valpo player in the MVC Era, behind Cooper Schwieger’s 266 last season… Finished the season with 413 points, the fourth most by a freshman in program history, behind only All Wright, Lubos Barton and Alec Peters… Finished 15th nationally in total rebounds by a freshman… Recorded six double-doubles, tied for the second most in the Missouri Valley Conference… Had 23 double-figure performances including each of the final nine games of the season… Reached the 20-point threshold on five occasions… Had the go-ahead 3-point play with 10 seconds remaining to put Valpo up one in a 66-63 victory over Eastern Illinois in the Nov. 4 season opener, capping a 13-point performance in his collegiate debut... Had his first double-double in league play with 10 points and a then season-high 12 rebounds on Jan. 13 at Belmont... Tied a then career high with seven made field goals while scoring 17 points and pulling down nine rebounds to lead the team in both categories in a Jan. 31 win at Indiana State... Had his fourth collegiate double-double and a career high in points in a 23-point, 12-rebound, two-block game in the Feb. 9 win at Drake... Had his second straight double-double with 17 points and a then career-high 13 rebounds on Feb. 12 at Illinois State... Became the first Valpo player since 2011 (Ryan Broekhoff) with a 14-point, eight-rebound, six-assist game on Feb. 15 vs. Indiana State... Led Valpo to the Feb. 18 win over Bradley with a 22-point performance, tying a then season high with seven made field goals... Stuffed the stat sheet with 11 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals in the Feb. 21 win at UIC. He broke the program’s freshman rebounding record that had stood for over 25 years in the game against the Flames... Hit a game-winning 3-pointer with 2.1 seconds remaining in the 74-71 victory over Drake... Shared the team lead with 17 points on Feb. 28 at Evansville... Scored 14 points and had seven rebounds in the March 5 MVC Tournament opener vs. Indiana State… Finished his season with his best performance yet in the March 6 MVC quarterfinal vs. Bradley, becoming the first player nationally with at least 24 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists in a game against a Division-I opponent in 2025-26. He became the first player nationally to hit those marks in a game against a Division-I opponent in two full years… He became the first known Valpo player with a 24-point, nine-assist game as previously the highest known point total for a Valpo player with a nine-assist game was 20… He was one assist away from Valpo’s first triple-double since 2007 and second in program history.
Prep: Averaged 17 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks per game as a junior at Bolingbrook High School in 2023-24… Recorded the second triple-double (points/rebounds/blocks) in school history… Named the MVP of the Decatur Turkey Tournament, earned first-team all-tournament honors at the Jack Tosh Holiday Classic and garnered first team all-conference honors as a junior… Tabbed a second-team all-state performer by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association and second-team all-state media (formerly AP) in 2023-24… Also named First Team Joliet Herald News, Illinois Hoop Prospects All-Junior Team and Illinois Hoop Prospects All-Defensive Team in 2023-24… Averaged 16.0 points per game, 10.2 rebounds per game and 2.4 blocks per game during his senior season in 2024-25… Earned all-tournament honors at the Jack Tosh Holiday Classic and Decatur Turkey Tournament as a senior… Earned all-conference status in 2024-25 after shooting 59 percent from 2 and 40 percent from 3 on the season… Named all-area (Chicago Sun Times), all-state (Illinois Basketball Coaches Association) and Joliet Herald News First Team after his senior season… McDonald’s All-American nominee… Finished as the program’s all-time leader in blocks and rebounds while scoring over 1,000 career points.

Personal: Mother Bonnie Bremner-Pettigrew was an All-American, the Big Ten Player of the Year and Big Ten Freshman of the Year during her volleyball career at Penn State, where she was the setter for a national championship team… Father Titcus Pettigrew played football and basketball for the Nittany Lions… Brother Trey Pettigrew also played college basketball and has made stops at Nevada, Bradley and Eastern Michigan… Plans to major in business… Enjoys golfing, cooking and traveling… Used to be a good snowboarder, but he gave up that hobby… Honor roll student with a 3.5 cumulative grade point average.
