The Valparaiso University women’s golf team competed in Day 1 of the Horizon League Championships in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. on Sunday. The Crusaders posted a 324 (+36) in Round 1, tied with UIC for fifth place in the eight-team event. Northern Kentucky sits atop the team standings at 304 (+16).
How It Happened
- Senior Angie Kim (Schaumberg, Ill. / Fremd) carded an 80 (+8) in Round 1. She’s one of four players currently tied for 16th.
- Freshman Tiffany Curtis (Crown Point, Ind. / Crown Point) stroked an 81 (+9) out of the No. 5 spot in her first career Horizon League Championships round. She is at T-20 overall. Kylie Shoemake (Schererville, Ind. / Lake Central) was also part of the tie with an 81 in Round 1.
- Madison McCreary turned in an 82 to tie for 22nd, while Sydney Shrum (Cloverdale, Ind. / Cloverdale) sits in a tie for 32nd with an 87.

- Curtis and Kim lead the squad with 10 pars apiece.
