The wins kept coming for Valparaiso University women’s tennis sophomore Jelena Vujanic (Elk Grove Village, Ill. / Elk Grove) on Friday at the ITA Midwest Regional hosted by the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Vujanic picked up her third straight win in the singles qualifying draw, advancing to the tournament’s main draw.
How It Happened
- Vujanic upped her record to 11-1 this season by pulling out a three-set victory over Bowling Green’s Marharita Tavpash 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 in the third round of the qualifying draw. The win was the 30th of Vujanic’s collegiate career – and she’s only a sophomore.
- Vujanic and fellow sophomore Claire Czerwonka (Kenosha, Wis. / Saint Joseph Catholic Academy) came up just shy in a tight main draw Round 1 doubles match against Oakland’s Thielman/Galloway by a score of 8-6.
