The #21 Valpo bowling team made its debut at Destination Orlando, hosted by Sacred Heart in Orlando, Fla., on Friday, earning a pair of wins on the first day of competition.

How It Happened
- Valpo opened the day, contested in the five-game baker format, against #14 Mount St. Mary's. The Beacons were up 28 pins through four games before the Mount rallied to deal Valpo an 858-839 defeat.
- Valpo rebounded in the second match slot, breaking 200 in three of the five games as it eased to a 962-780 victory over #RV Emmanuel.
- The Beacons led #3 Vanderbilt after the first game of the third match slot before the Commodores went on to earn a 976-827 win.
- Valpo trailed Texas Southern through two games in its fourth match of the day, but rallied to pick up an 859-783 victory.
- The day ended with a narrow 873-849 defeat against #4 Youngstown State.
- Valpo totaled 4,336 pins on the first day of action, good for 18th place out of 24 competing teams.
