The Valpo men's and women's swimming teams combined to have eight swimmers recognized as Academic All-District honorees on Tuesday by College Sports Communicators.

On the men's side,
Andrew Berzai (South Bend, Ind./Mishawaka Marian) carries a 3.785 GPA as an exercise science (pre-physical therapy) major,
Ricky Helmboldt (Tucson, Ariz./Arizona Connections Academy) a 3.975 GPA as an integrated business engineering major,
Anthony Martin (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett) a 3.97 GPA as a mechanical engineering major and
Brendan Stangeland (West Fargo, N.D./Sheyenne) a 3.658 GPA as a mechanical engineering major.

On the women's side,
Madi Boor (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) carries a 3.892 GPA as a health science (pre-PA) major,
Haley Hume (Ballwin, Mo./Marquette) a 3.97 GPA as a mechanical engineering major,
Emma Schmidt (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley) a 3.526 GPA as a health science (pre-PA) major and
Sara Strauss (Spring Lake, Mich./Spring Lake) a 3.581 GPA as an exercise science (pre-physical therapy) major.

To be eligible for Academic All-District consideration, student-athletes must be at least sophomores academically and athletically and carry at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA. Programs are limited to four men's and four women's honorees.
