Valparaiso University baseball redshirt freshman
Case Sullivan (Carmel, Ind. / Carmel) earned recognition for his big final week of the season, as he was selected by the College Baseball Foundation as the Brooks Wallace Award National Shortstop of the Week.
Â
Sullivan homered in each of the final two games of the season, both victories over Southern Illinois, helping Valpo secure a series win to close out 2025 on a high note. He had four hits in Friday's victory over the Salukis, part of a week where he hit .500, reached at a .526 clip and slugged 1.125. Six of his eight hits went for extra bases including two home runs as he drove in eight, scored six times and totaled 18 bases.
Â
Sullivan went 4-for-5 with six RBIs in Friday's 24-14, eight-inning victory over Southern Illinois, the highest-scoring game in the 75-year history of Emory G. Bauer Field and the program's highest run total since 2010. He experienced the first six-RBI game by a Beacon since Riley Dent on May 1, 2021 vs. Illinois State. Sullivan's four hits marked a season high.

Â
Brooks Wallace Award
The Brooks Wallace Award is presented annually to honor the nation's most
outstanding shortstop. It is a tribute to Brooks Wallace, a slick-fielding shortstop at
Texas Tech from 1977-80 who passed away at age 27 after a courageous battle with
leukemia. Prior to 2009, the award recognized the national player of the year.
