The Valparaiso University women's golf program and head coach
Jill McCoy have announced the addition of
Keira Cotter (Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada / Guelph [Lake Superior State]), who will transfer into the program as a junior for the 2025-26 season.
Cotter, who competed at the Blyth Academy Park School for Elite Athletes prior to attending Guelph University in her native Canada, was named the 2022-23 Guelph Gryphons Women's Golf Rookie of the Year. She also played for the North York Storm U18-AA women's hockey program.
"I'm excited to welcome Keira as my program's first international student," McCoy said. "Keira has some great scores from her previous years playing college golf, and I'm excited to see what she will bring to Valpo!"
Cotter spent the last two seasons at NCAA Division-II Lake Superior State University in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). She golfed 19 rounds in 2023-24 and nine in 2024-25. She was the runner-up in the LTU Blue Devil Classic in Fall 2023 and was the runner-up in the LTU Collegiate Kickoff in Fall 2024. She posted a sub-80 scoring average over four events during the Fall 2024 campaign.
"I am incredibly excited to be joining Valparaiso University's women's golf team, and to be joining such a competitive group," Cotter said. "This opportunity means the world to me, and I can't wait to grow as both a player and person. I am looking forward to learning from my coaches and teammates and contributing everything I can to our shared success. Being a Beacon is truly an honor, and I'm ready to give it my all."
