Valparaiso University women's golf senior
Taylor Skibinski (Michigan City, Ind. / Michigan City) led the charge in Monday's third and final round as the Beacons concluded the season-opening Redbird Invitational, hosted by Illinois State at the sunny, pleasant, par-72, 6169-yard Weibring Golf Club in Normal, Ill.
How It Happened
- Skibinski enjoyed her best round of the tournament by producing a 79 to finish at t-80 with a 54-hole score of 249. She started on Hole 15 and reached par on each of her first four holes. She later drained a birdie on the par-4 10th.
- Freshmen Katie Estridge (Biloxi, Miss. / Biloxi) and Nora Meek (Beavercreek, Ohio / Beavercreek) tied for second on the squad as each used 86 strokes in Round 3 of their first collegiate tournament. Estridge finished the event second on the team at 256.
- The Beacons improved in Round 3 as a team, posting a 342, their best round of the tournament. Valpo got better with each passing round at the season-opening event.
- Eastern Kentucky took the team title at 951 and had the medalist in Karra Tucker, who was three under for the tourney.

The Beacons will be back in action beginning on Monday, Sept. 15 with the Brittany Kelly Classic hosted by Ball State at The Players Club in Yorktown, Ind.
