The Valparaiso University tennis team sustained its flare for the dramatic, beating St. Thomas in another 4-3 thriller on Saturday afternoon at the Courts of Northwest Indiana. In the process, the Beacons upped their record to 9-3 and extended their winning streak to four.

How It Happened
- The Beacons lost a close 6-4 match at No. 1 doubles in the first doubles match to finish, and needed to win both of the others to take what proved to be a crucial doubles point. The No. 3 tandem of Andrea Delgado (Richmond, Texas / Foster [Dallas Baptist]) and Madi Rogers (Clearwater, Fla. / Florida Virtual [Bradley]) got the job done by beating Alize Yarwood and Anna Sidorenko 6-3.
- The doubles point rested on the result at No. 2, where Moira Silva (Houston, Texas / Westside) and Brynn Steven (Wichita, Kan. / Bishop Carroll) stayed hot with a 6-4 win over Lily Olson and Ingrid Forsberg.
- St. Thomas won No. 4 Singles, which was the first match to finish, but then Valpo regained the lead in the team score when Silva cruised past Emilia Korseth at No. 1 by a 6-2, 6-3 score.
- Sophomore Lacey Tanner (Fort Pierce, Fla. / Florida Virtual School) was next off the court, winning 6-3, 6-4 over Sidorenko at No. 3 to put Valpo on the brink of the team win at 3-1.
- The Tommies took a close second set at No. 2 to finalize that victory. The second sets were both close in the matches at the bottom of the lineup, but Delgado took care of business with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Yarwood at No. 5 and the Tommies won two close sets at No. 6 to account for the 4-3 score.
