Valparaiso University baseball junior
Louie Kegerreis (Murrysville, Pa. / Franklin Regional) was named the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week after finishing the season on a high note in a three-game series at Southern Illinois.
Kegerreis batted .692 (9-for-13) in the final series of the season, posting a team-best on-base percentage of .714 and slugging percentage of .923. He had three RBIs, three doubles and three runs scored in the three games at Southern Illinois, Valpo's only three games this week.
Kegerreis propelled Valpo to its 9-4 victory on Saturday by going 6-for-6, becoming just the fifth player nationally in Division-I this season with a six-hit game, tied for the most in a single game nationally in 2026. Kegerreis enjoyed Valpo's first six-hit game since 2010. His big week helped him move into the team lead in batting average, finishing the season with a squad-best .330.
Valpo won four Missouri Valley Conference weekly awards this season, as Kegerreis joined
Cal Schembra (Freshman of the Week, Week 1), Javin Gautheir (Player of the Week, Week 2) and
Connor Lockwood (Pitcher of the Week, Week 3) as weekly award winners.
