Five members of the 2025-2026 Valparaiso University cross country and track & field programs were named to College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District Team on Tuesday.
Senior javelin thrower
Brian Sponaugle (Milton, De. / Cape Henlopen) and junior distance runner
Karson Hollander (Crystal Lake, Ill. / Crystal Lake) received the award on the men's side, while senior multis athlete
Rhena Kiger (Crown Point, Ind. / Crown Point), senior multis athlete
Katie Koryczan (Crown Point, Ind. / Crown Point) and sophomore distance runner
Kensington Black (Franklin, Ohio / Franklin Senior) represented the Valpo women.
To qualify for CSC Academic All-District honors in track & field, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore, own at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and must be among the top performers in their region in at least one event.
Sponaugle and Koryczan are three-time CSC Academic All-District honorees.
