Senior Madison Keil (LaGrange, Ind. / Lakeland) paced the Valparaiso University women's golf team in the third and final round of the 54-hole Brittany Kelly Classic, hosted by Ball State at the par-72, 6262-yard Players Club in Yorktown, Ind.
How It Happened
- Keil had the lone sub-80 round for the Beacons on Day 2, finishing with a 79 (+7) in Round 3. She shot even par on 11 of the 18 holes to finish the tournament at 234 (+18), tied for second on the team and tied for 41st in the 72-player field.
- The top Beacon in terms of 54-hole score was senior Anna Fay (Ada, Mich. / Forest Hills), who stroked a 233 (+17) despite an 82 on Tuesday. Fay had a team-high 11 birdies in the tournament including Hole 6 and Hole 13 in Round 3, helping her finish at t-35.
- The team's second-best 18-hole scores came from senior Katie Schreiner (Fenton, Mo. / Summit) and junior Taylor Skibinski (Michigan City, Ind. / Michigan City), who both stroked an 80 on Tuesday. Schreiner finished the tournament tied with Keil for second on the team at 234.
- Valpo posted a 320 (+32) in Round 3 to finish at 945 (+81) for the event. The Beacons beat Cleveland State by seven strokes for 11th. Ball State took the team title at 878 and featured the winning individual – Jasmine Driscoll at 211.

"We were not as strong today, but we still have some good momentum. We definitely need to figure out how to limit our big numbers and keep the score steadier. Once we do that, we should really start to see some results."
