Anna Fay (Ada, Mich. / Forest Hills) topped the Valparaiso University women's golf team in the opening round at the 2025 Missouri Valley Conference Championship, a three-day, 54-hole event hosted by Indiana State that got underway on Sunday at the par-72, 6067-yard Annbriar Golf Course in Waterloo, Ill.
How It Happened
- Fay birdied the par-5 ninth hole to highlight her opening round of 81 (+9), putting her in a tie for 39th place in the 60-player, 12-team field.
- Fellow seniors Madison Keil (LaGrange, Ind. / Lakeland) and Katie Schreiner (Fenton, Mo. / Summit) were two strokes off their classmates' pace, turning in 83s (+11) on the opening day of action. Schreiner birdied the third and 13th holes, both par 4s.
- Valpo finished the first day of conference-championship action with a team score of 335 (+47), ranking 12th on the team leaderboard.
- Illinois State is the favorite to win the team title, owning an eight-stroke lead on second-place Evansville. Drake's Erika Holmberg carded a 70 (-2) to lead all competitors in Sunday's opening round.
