Chris Ensminger was one of the anchors of the early years of the men's basketball dynasty. A two-time All-Conference honoree, Ensminger was part of two Mid-Continent Conference regular season championship teams, two Mid-Con tournament title teams and the 1995-1996 team, which became the first in program history to go to the Division I NCAA Tournament. In the year before his arrival, Valpo won just five games — in his last three years, Valpo won 20 or more games each season. Ensminger held program records for career rebounds and field goal percentage when he graduated and still ranks second and eighth, respectively, in those categories today. He also owns two of the top-five single-season rebounding totals in program history. Ensminger played professionally for 17 years in Europe, winning a pair of German Bundesliga titles. He served as the head coach of Oettinger Rockets in the ProA German Basketball League for four years and is currently sporting director at OrangeAcademy.
