The Valpo women's basketball program announced its schedule for the upcoming 2024-25 season today, featuring 11 nonconference games before the 20-game Missouri Valley Conference slate.
The home opener for the Beacons is set for the evening of Nov. 9, when Purdue Fort Wayne comes to town — the Mastodons won 23 games last season and advanced to the Super 16 of the WNIT. In all, Valpo has five home nonconference games, also welcoming Trinity Christian, Goshen, Western Michigan and Detroit Mercy to the ARC.
Valpo tips off the season Nov. 4, taking on Liberty in Xenia, Ohio at the Athletes in Action Total Athlete Tip-Off. Another highlight of the nonconference road slate is a Dec. 18 visit to Saint Louis, which won the WNIT a season ago. Other nonconference road games include visits to old conference foes Milwaukee and Loyola, as well as a trip to Bethlehem, Pa. for the Christmas City Classic, where the Beacons will meet North Dakota and either Lehigh or Marist.
MVC action begins Dec. 29 at the ARC, as Valpo faces off with Southern Illinois. The 20-game Valley slate includes nine home-and-home series, and two single-play opponents — Valpo will meet Southern Illinois and Missouri State once apiece this season.
The regular season wraps up at home against UNI on March 8, leading into the MVC Women's Basketball Tournament March 13-16. This year's tournament will take place at the Ford Center in Evansville, Ind. The tournament champion will earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
