Valpo women's basketball graduate student Leah Earnest (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) was honored for her work both on the court and in the classroom on Tuesday, as she was named to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Third Team.
 
On the court, Earnest has led the Beacons this year, averaging 17.4 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. She ranks fourth in the Valley in scoring and seventh in rebounding — one of only two players to rank in the top-seven in both categories. Earnest surpassed the program record for career games played earlier this month and broke the program's career rebounding record in the regular season finale.
 
In the classroom, Earnest graduated from Valpo last May with a 3.723 GPA as an exercise science major. She is currently pursuing her MBA and has a graduate GPA of 3.717. This is the second straight season Earnest has earned a spot on the MVC Scholar-Athlete Third Team.
