Valparaiso University women's golf senior
Taylor Skibinski (Michigan City, Ind. / Michigan City) posted the team's top score, while freshman
Nora Meek (Beavercreek, Ohio / Beavercreek) hit the most impressive shot of the day as the Beacons played close to home at the Fighting Irish Classic, hosted by Notre Dame at the par-72, 6233-yard Warren Golf Club in the South Bend area.
How It Happened
- Meek turned in the most impressive shot of the day – and perhaps the season so far – by a Valpo golfer when she eagled the par-4, 323-yard 16th hole in Round 1. Meek's ball one-hopped off the flag and fell in for eagle as her family members looking on erupted into celebration.
- Meek was second on the team with a 36-hole score of 166 in the single-day tournament. Her best round of the day was an 80 in the opening round, helping her finish the event two strokes off the team lead.
- Skibinski possessed the team lead again in this tournament, posting a 164 to finish at t-35. She improved four strokes from her Round-1 score in Round 2, carding an 80 in the final round of the day.
- The youthful Beacons, who started three freshmen as they have in each tournament this season, finished ninth in the tournament at 679 (334-345). The host Fighting Irish took the team title at 583 and boasted the individual medalist Alexsandra Lapple at 141.
